CLUB RULES 2024
- Payment of entry fees indicate the agreement of competitors and spectators not to hold the organisers liable or responsible for any loss, damage or accident incurred by any persons or property on the show field or parking field.
- In any dispute the committee's decision is final. All breaches of the rules, matters of discipline and objections shall be referred to a stewards committee this shall be either the Chairperson or secretary and one other committee member. Their decisions shall be final and binding and shall be notified direct to the person(s) concerned. Bad language will not be tolerated, and you will forfeit your membership if this is not adhered too.
- Correct riding dress must be worn by all riders. Hard hat must be worn by all ridden competitors and must be the correct safety standard, on entering the ring. All chin straps must be fastened when mounted and all Junior members must where riding hats fastened when competing either in hand or ridden. We are not affiliated to a society, but WDRC recommend all riding hats display a BRC KITE MARK and to be a standard PAS015 2011 or SNELL E2016. Back protectors are not compulsory but are recommended in working hunter and new legislation recommends these are Beta 2018 EN13158 level 3.
- Whips should not exceed 30". The excessive use of whips on the show ground is forbidden.
- Entry fees will not be refunded. Either by pre-entry or on the day when entry is for fitted not because of the club.
- Points will be cumulative in the respect of the same horse/pony. The name of the horse or pony should be kept for the entire season as points are awarded for combination of animal/rider. This will avoid two sets of points being started. You will be striped of points if this rule is not adhered to.
- Points towards the championship will be only awarded to paid up members of WDRC in current year. Once payment has been received each member will receive a membership card and back number. These back numbers are to be used at each show during the year and will have your name on the back. Please keep these safe and ready to use at each show as you will not be allowed to enter the ring without one. Replacement back numbers will be available at the office at a charge of £5 a number.
- Stallions may enter up to 3 years old only. (Senior members only).
- Late entries are at the judges discretion.
- It is up to the competitor to ensure that they are entered in the correct class.
- To be eligible for points, the rider/horse/pony must have competed in the class at a minimum of 2 points shows. Points will be awarded in each class (except clear round) One point awarded for each class entered and presented in the ring. Points and rosettes will be awarded to the first 6th places in the ring. 1st-8points, 2nd 7 points, 3rd 6 points, 4th 5 points, 5th 4points, 6th 3 points. All other members in the ring 1 point.
- Ring Championships- All qualified riders must be mounted to take part in any ridden championship. When a rider qualifies on more than one horse/pony in the same championship, the owner/rider must choose which animal to enter on, as it is the winning rider, horse/pony combination only allowed to compete for the championship. (i.e.no substitute rider or led in hand) Same applies for the in-hand ring. Membership MUST be purchased when booking in if you wish to the Championship. Membership can be purchased after your class, but you will not be eligible for the championship till the following month.
- Any junior member has to be 3 years and over to compete in any showing class. However, children 2 years and over may enter the respective novelty classes only.
- All horses/ponies ages are at the 1st January in the current year. No horse/pony 3 years or under may be ridden on the field.
- Falling off rule will apply. Anyone falling from Horse/Pony will be eliminated from the class for Health & Safety reasons and must leave the ring. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REMOUNT IN ANY CLASS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
- The judge's decision is final, in respect of any class. Any objections should be made in writing to the chairperson, secretary together with a deposit of £25, which will be refunded if the objection is upheld.
- Working Hunter Marking -: Jumping = 50pts, Conformation & freedom of action = 50pts Total = 100pts. Penalties: Knock down = 10pts, First Refusal = 15pts, Second Refusal = 20pts, Third Refusal = Disqualification, fall of horse or rider = Elimination. (Back protectors are advised but are not compulsory)
- A novice horse/pony will not be eligible to compete in a novice class if won £10.00 prize money or more in an open ridden class or won the overall points for the novice class for Wyre and District Riding Club prior to 2023.
- All equitation classes have to be ridden in a snaffle bridle and no spurs allowed.
- Spurs can be worn be senior riders but not in equitation, mountain and moorland classes and veteran.
- All Horse / Ponies MUST be vaccinated up to date. 12 monthly vaccinations are fine but must be 7 days clear from having last jab. Any horses / ponies not up to date will be asked to leave immediately.
- Lead Reins are not eligible to enter any open class other than the veteran class.
- If you do not wish for photographs to be taken of you or your family, you must inform our official photographer. Photographs taken by our official photographer may appear in the public domain and on the clubs social media sites to advertise and publicise Wyre and District Riding Club.

- Equifest: The show is now in partnership with Arena UK in Allington, Lincolnshire and will be held from 1st to 4th August 2024. "This Show is affiliated to Equifest, taking place at Arena UK between the 1st to 4th August 2024. The two highest exhibits not already qualified in each affiliated class will qualify."

You enter the parking field and show field, entirely at your own risk. Neither the owners nor Wyre and District Riding Club accept liability or responsibility for any loss, damage or personal injury by/to any persons, animals or property on the field. The field has been provided by the kind permission of the Owners.
It is for your Convenience and Safety. Please comply with these few simple rules:
1. Maximum speed limit is 5 mph.
2. If you lose traction. Ask for assistance with the parking marshals. Do not tear up the turf.
3. Obey the Marshals, they are there to assist you. Bad language to our marshals will result in loss of your club's membership and you will be asked to leave the grounds.
4. Horses and ponies to be ridden in the warmup area provided. Please do not use the car park area. If the warmup area is overcrowded, please see a parking marshal and warmup will be given on class priority. Please when riding to and from your class from the parking field and back again. Please walk! This is for the safety of other members and spectators.
5. Please ensure that you have removed All you Litter and droppings before you leave. So Please, Please Do your part to ensure we don't lose our excellent facilities.

Health and Safety statement of WDRC
- The Organiser has the overall responsibility for Health and Safety.
- The event is organised in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and all who have (to any extent) control of the premises or site at the event are responsible for ensuring that:
a. Everything reasonably practicable is done to ensure the health and safety and welfare of those attending the event.
b. They conduct themselves so that they do not put themselves or anyone else at risk.
c. Access to and from the site is safe.
d. Members of the public and competitors are responsible for ensuring that they do not put other persons at risk and that they cooperate with the organisers in compliance with health and safety Legislation.
e. Children must be always supervised by parents/guardians.
f. Dogs must be always kept under close control and on leads.
g. The use of bicycles is prohibited on the showground.
- Horses:
a. Horses can easily be frightened and can be dangerous. Members of the public are requested to keep away from horse areas/lanes and to avoid any behaviour which may alarm the animals.
b. We strongly recommend that horses and ponies are NOT left unsupervised whilst tied up.
- Emergencies:
a. Emergency services must always have access to all parts of the event site. Spectators/ Members are asked not to park vehicles on the roads adjacent to the site entrances and exits.
b. First Aid is available at the secretary's tent.
c. In the case of an emergency, members of the public should contact the nearest official for assistance.
